Mental toughness is a term that not a significant amount of research has been conducted about. However, it is crucial that we have a better understanding of our own mental toughness and skills that we can equip ourselves with to improve our own mental toughness. Mental toughness differs from resilience. Resiliency is a reactive action, whereas, strengthening your mental toughness is something proactive you can do. This presentation will equip you with tools you can use to strengthen your mental toughness. Originally this presentation was supposed to be conducted in person and have tips to improve your mental toughness at your workplace. Due to COVID-19 and most individuals shifting to working from home, I have changed the presentation to how you can improve your mental toughness while you work from home.
Personal Bio: I am a graduate student at South Dakota State University. I received my undergraduate degree in Consumer Affairs with minors in marketing and advertising. I have a passion for learning, so I pursued a graduate degree in Communication and Media Studies. For my graduate project, I wanted to create something applicable to real people in the workplace. I am so excited to be partnering with WILL and the Chamber to connect with business professions in the Brookings area. I have fallen in love with the Brookings community, and I am hoping that with my presentation, I can give back in some small way. Apart from being a graduate student, I am a yoga instructor at Prairie Soul Fitness and Yoga studio, which is why I value strengthen full body and mind wellness.
