Becoming Your Best Self featuring Robert Anthony Rodriguez
Born with fibular hemimelia, Robert Anthony Rodriguez underwent amputation of his right leg below-the-knee at just 10 months old. Additional personal tragedies did not deter Robert as he grew up as a gifted athlete and positive role model. He plays for the U.S. Amputee Soccer team, is a sled hockey player and is now a Paratriathlete!
Robert had been playing soccer for about a year before joining the U.S. Amputee Soccer Team in 2017. Robert was born with fibula hemimelia. In addition to soccer, Robert plays competitive sled hockey, sit-down volleyball, stand-up amputee basketball and adaptive CrossFit. Favorite thing about soccer: "The level of skill, the challenge and the love that the world has for one sport. It brings so many countries and communities together."
Join us at the Children's Museum of SD for coffee, cookies and lemonade as Robert shares his story and talks about how to overcome obstacles, keeping a positive mental attitude, ways to stay focused on your goals, how to keep your confidence, and how to become our best selves!
